Children and Young People's Services
At JSP we provide a high quality case management service to children, young people and their families from our offices in Sheffield, Manchester, Scotland, and the North East.
All our case managers have a professional background including: social work, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nursing and education.
We aim to provide a case management service for specific needs by tailoring the case managers experience and professional skills appropriately to the individual child and their family.
The Children and Young Peoples Team provide the following services:
- Advocacy for the child or young person and their family
- Ongoing co-ordination of care and support packages for the individual child
- Ensuring that all the childs needs are met, physically, emotionally and psychologically
- Assisting the family to secure funding and provision of therapeutic services to their child
- Assisting families in their communication with statutory services
- Working in partnership with schools, attending meetings and reviews as appropriate
- Supporting the child and their family through the process of provision of a Statement of Special Educational Needs, including the appeal process if necessary
- Ensuring the child and their parents are receiving the correct benefits
- Acting as a link between families and the solicitor
- Researching appropriate professionals to work with the child as necessary
- Ensuring parents are aware of all available support groups
An extensive part of our work is managing the support packages of the child or young person. At JSP, since the year 2000, we have privately recruited support workers to work with children both in the home and in the childs school (home/school support worker). This has proved to be very successful and we now have several clients with this type of support.
The school staff and parents are involved at all stages of recruiting a home/school support worker, including the contents of the recruitment pack, short-listing and interviewing for the position.
With this model of support we aim to provide a holistic approach to the childs needs. The emphasis for the child is on all of their needs and not purely educational work. The home /school support worker role, under the supervision of the case manager, ensures that all professional advice and programmes are consistent in both settings in order to meet the childs needs.
The case manager liaises regularly with school staff and parents to ensure that the package is running smoothly.
A privately recruited home/school support worker therefore has benefits for the child, the parents, the school and the individual support worker.
Our recruitment processes, including the obtaining of an enhanced criminal records bureau check and two satisfactory references are essential in ensuring the safety of the child and as case managers we are obliged to be aware of child protection issues and processes and adhere to national and local government policies regarding these matters.
Each client is very much an individual. If you wish to discuss how our service may be able to assist you please do not hesitate to contact us. Initial enquiries can be directed at the local offices or to Rita Greaves, Lead Case Manager, Children and Young Peoples Service, on 0114 258 1405.

"Your knowledge, expertise and appropriate approach to this case has enabled a positive rehabilitation outcome that would otherwise have been unachievable."
